Michael Bisping is a British professional mixed martial artist, sports analyst, and commentator. He is nicknamed “The Count.”
Michael was born in Nicosia, Cyprus, on a British military base, and was raised in Clitheroe, Lancashire, England. He is the son of Kathleen (Armitage) and Jan Konrad Bisping. His father, who was born in London, England, has Polish, English, one eighth European Royal, and German, ancestry. His mother is from Northern Ireland.
Michael is married to Australian, Rebecca, with whom he has three children, including Callum Bisping, who is a wrestler.
Michael’s paternal grandfather was Andrzej/Andrew Józef Bobola Bisping von Gallen (the son of Jan Nepomucen Kamil Bisping and Countess Maria/Marie Józefa/Zamoyska Zamoyska). Michael’s grandfather Andrzej was born in Masaliany, Byerastavitsa Rayon, Hrodna Voblasts, now Belarus, and was a Polish noble and a military leader of the “Bishop’s Pings;” hence the surname Bisping and the nickname “The Count.” Michael’s great-grandfather Jan was the son of Józef Bisping and Helena Hołyńska. Michael’s great-grandmother Maria was born in Warsaw, the daughter of Count Andrzej Przemysław Konstanty Zamoyski, książę, of the Zamoyski Polish noble family; and of Princess Maria Carolina Giuseppina Ferdinanda, of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, who was born in Naples, Campania, Italy. She was of European Royal ancestry.
Michael’s paternal grandmother was named Mary Greenwood.
