His roles include the series Noddy , Redwall , The Zack Files , I Was a Rat , Strange Days at Blake Holsey High , Life with Derek , ReGenesis , Family Biz , Murdoch Mysteries , 18 to Life , Bomb Girls , Long Story, Short ; The Brief , and The Wedding Planners ; the films Future Fear , The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio ; and Adventures in the Sin Bin ; and the made-for-tv movies Cyber Seduction: His Secret Life , Shades of Black: The Conrad Black Story , Degrassi Goes Hollywood , Vacation with Derek , and Life with Luca . He has directed the films People Hold On , which he wrote; and Sadie’s Last Days on Earth , which he co-wrote. He has also directed episodes of Upstairs Amy and Emerald Code , and written episodes of Life with Derek and Family Biz . He co-founded BrancSeater Productions for film and television, with Paula Brancati .

Michael’s great-grandfather Robert was born in Westray, Orkney, the son of James Peterson Seater and Mary Rendall. Margaret was born in Rathen, Aberdeenshire, the daughter of Andrew Lamb Rennie and Isabella Shand Trail.
Michael’s paternal grandmother was Grace Marie Moyse (the daughter of Joseph Moyse and Marise Minnie May Miles). Grace was born in Manitoba. Joseph was born in Bucharest, Romania, or possibly Mons, Belgium. Minnie was born in Enfield, England, the daughter of Frederick Bartholomew Miles and Emily Meekcoms.
