Michael T. Flynn, also known simply as Michael Flynn, is an American retired lieutenant general, and conspiracry theorist. He was Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, from July 24, 2012 to August 7, 2014, and U.S. National Security Advisor, from January 22, 2017 to February 13, 2017.
He is the son of Helen Frances and Charles Francis Flynn. Many of his family members have served in the armed forces. His brother is U.S. Armmy General Charles A. Flynn. He is married to Lori Andrade, with whom he has two children.
Michael’s paternal grandfather was named Henry E. “Harry” Flynn (the son of John H. Flynn). John was Irish.
Michael’s paternal grandmother was Katherine Aloysius Burns (the daughter of Charles Patrick Burns and Mary T. Smith). Katherine was born in Rhode Island, and was of Irish origin. Charles was the son of Patrick Crohan Burns and Abigail Moriarty. Mary was the daughter of William A. Smith and Catherine Downing.
