Miel Bredouw is an American comedian, podcaster, and musician. Initially gaining fame on Vine in 2014, she also hosted the HeadGum podcast Punch Up the Jam , from 2017 to 2020. She released her debut album, “Tourist Season,” in 2020. She is also known as Mielmonster.
Her father, Jim, is a studio musician, who has worked on music for Nike campaigns. Her younger brother, Henri, is married to musician Mree. She was partly raised on Orcas Island, Washington.
Miel’s paternal grandfather was Jerome Ridpath Bredouw (the son of Frederick Eugene Bredouw and Katherine Josephine Ridpath). Jerome was born in Kansas City, Missouri. Frederick was born in Denver, Colorado, to Danish parents, Ludwig Henning Bredouw and Margarethe Hansen, from Holbaek and Bornholm, respectively. Miel’s great-grandmother Katherine was the daughter of Thomas William “Tom” Ridpath and Grace Alice Lapham, whose father was English.
Miel’s paternal grandmother was Barbara June Wade (the daughter of Ernest Jackson “Jerry” Wade and Catherine June Ayres). Barbara was born in Seattle, Washington. Miel’s maternal grandfather was Louis Church Gillette (the son of John Westfield Gillette, Jr. and Louise Dawson Black). Louis was born in Detroit, Michigan. John was born in New York, the son of John Westfield Gillett and Grace Fidelia James. Miel’s great-grandmother Louise was born in Pennsylvania, the daughter of Jeremiah Sullivan Black and Isabel Charlotte Church, whose own mother was born in Paris, France, to American parents.
Miel’s maternal grandmother was Margaret Gill Woods (the daughter of Samuel Baker Woods, Jr. and Margaret Gill). Miel’s grandmother Margaret was born in Wilmington, North Carolina, to parents from Virginia.
