Miro Cerar is a Slovenian law professor and politician. He was Prime Minister of Slovenia, from 18 September, 2014 to 13 September, 2018. He has also been Leader of the Modern Centre Party, from 2 June, 2014 to 21 September, 2019, a Member of the National Assembly, from 1 August, 2014 to 13 March, 2020, and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Deputy Prime Minister, both, from 13 September, 2018 to 13 March, 2020.

His father, Miroslav Cerar, was a gymnast and lawyer, who won the pommel horse event at the 1964 and 1968 Summer Olympics. His mother, Zdenka Cerar, a lawyer, became the first female State Prosecutor General of the Republic of Slovenia. She was a national gymanstics champion, who competed at the 1962 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.

Miro’s maternal grandfather’s surname was Prusnik.
