Miroslav Klose, also known as Miroslav Josef Klose, is a Polish-born German professional footballer, and manager. A striker, he played with FC 08 Homburg II, FC 08 Homburg, 1. FC Kaiserslautern II, 1. FC Kaiserslautern, Werder Bremen, Bayern Munich, and Lazio, and the Germany national team. He manages 1. FC Nürnberg. He previously managed Rheindorf Altach. He is the all-time top scorer for Germany; and all-time scorer in the FIFA World Cup, with 16 goals scored over four editions.

Miroslav was born in Opele, Poland, a Silesian city, and is the son of Barbara Jeż and Józef Klose. His father was born in Sławięcice, Poland, and was a professional footballer. His mother was on the Poland women’s national handball team. Miroslav moved to Kusel, Rhineland-Palatinate, in 1986. His full name has been listed as Mirosław Marian Klose and Mirosław Josef Klose.

He is married to Polish-born Sylwia, with whom he has two children. The family speaks Polish at home. Miroslav is a practising Catholic.

Miroslav has not had Polish citizenship since he was eighteen. He carries a German passport.

Miroslav’s paternal grandfather was Erwin Klose (the son of August Klose and Viktoria Kuznik).

Miroslav’s paternal grandmother was Gertrud Panek (the daughter of Johann Panek and Marie Kubitzki). Johann was the son of Philipp Panek and Viktoria Pietrek. Marie was the daughter of Georg Kubitzki and Hedwig Stollorz.
