Miyoshi Umeki, also known as Nancy Umeki, was a Japanese-American actress and singer. She won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for Sayonara (1957).

Miyoshi was born in Otaru, Hokkaido, Japan. She began singing and acting in Japan, before moving to the U.S. in 1955. Miyoshi was married to Randall Hood, until his death. The two ran a film editing business. She had a son with her former husband, television director Frederick Winfield “Wynn” Opie, who was adopted by Randall.
