Moe Howard was an American actor and comedian. He was a member of comedy troupe The Three Stooges, which also included his brothers Shemp Howard and Curly Howard, as well as Joe Besser, Joe DeRita , and Larry Fine .
His parents, Jennie and Solomon Natan Gorovitz/Horwitz, were Lithuanian Jewish emigrants. His father was born in Kaunas.
Moe was married to Helen Schonberger, with whom he had two children, including writer and actress Joan Howard Maurer. Helen was a cousin of stage magician, illusionist, and stunt performer Harry Houdini .
Moe’s paternal grandfather was named Nachum Chaim Horwitz.
Moe’s paternal grandmother was named Dora/Devorah.
