Morrie Schwartz was an American sociology professor, teaching at Brandeis University, and an author. He was the son of Minnie and Charles/Charlie/Shaya Schwartz, was a Russian Jewish emigrant, from Engrin. Morrie was an agnostic Jew who took different philosophies from different religions, like Christianity and Buddhism. He inspired the book Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom.

He was married to Charlotte, with whom he had two children.

Morrie’s paternal grandfather was named Max Schwartz (the son of Isaiah Schwartz).

Morrie’s paternal grandmother was named Pearl/Pesche Weissman. Pearl was born in Sorotky.
