Nani was born in Amadora, Portugal, the son of Maria do Ceu Almeida and Domingos António Cunha David. His parents were from Cape Verde. He was raised by his aunt on the Santa Filomena estate, in Amadora. Nani is married to Daniela Martins, with whom he has two children.
