Nathan Mackinnon is a Canadian professional ice hockey player, and actor. A centre, he plays for, and is alternate captain of, the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League (NHL); and has also played for the Canada national team. He was the first overall pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, where he was selected by the Avalanche. He appeared on the show Mr. D .
Nathan is the son of Kathy and Graham MacKinnon. He played in the minor ice hockey system of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia.
Nathan’s paternal grandfather was named James Alexander MacKinnon.
Nathan’s paternal grandmother was Freeda Charolette Harvey (the daughter of George Henry Harvey and Ida May Burris).
Nathan’s maternal grandfather was named Raymond Charles Tays.
Nathan’s maternal grandmother was Helen Mae Malcolm (the daughter of Jason Merrill Malcolm and Florence Emma Gould). Jason was the son of Leonard Malcolm and Emma Mosher. Florence was the daughter of Alfred Gould and Emma Deschenes.
