Her father, Ali Yanya, is an artist and art professor, from Istanbul, Türkiye. Her mother, Sandra Daniel, is a visual artist. Nilüfer’s mother is the daughter of a Barbadian father and of an Irish mother, from Dún Laoghaire. Her name comes from pop singer Nilüfer Yumlu.
Nilüfer’s maternal grandmother was Anne Theresa Dixon (the daughter of James Harry Dixon and Nancy Soden).
