Noli de Castro is a Filipino journalist, news anchor, and politician. He has served as Senator of the Philippines, from June 30, 2001 to June 30, 2004, Vice President of the Philippines, and Chairman of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council, both, from June 30, 2004 to June 30, 2010; and Presidential Adviser for Overseas Filipino Workers, from August 11, 2004 to June 30, 2010.
Noli is the son of Demetria Giron Leuterio and Manuel Marfil de Castro, Sr. Noli was married to Bai Arlene Gardner Sinsuat, until her death. He has a daughter with his former wife Pacita Magellan Torralba; and two children, including journalist and TV personality Kat de Castro, with Arlene.
Noli’s paternal grandfather was named Esteban de Castro.
Noli’s paternal grandmother was named Apolinaria Marfil.
Noli’s maternal grandfather was Bonifacio Leuterio y Afán (or Bonifacio Afán Leuterio in Filipino, the son of Abdón Leuterio y Romero, or Abdón Romero Leuterio in Filipino, and of Gerónima Afán y Zamora, or Gerónima Zamora Afán in Filipino). Abdón was born in Albay, the son of Manuel Leuterio y Tapia, or Manuel Tapia Leuterio in Filipino, and of Eduviges Romero, who were from Ermita and Binondo, respectively, both in Manila. Noli’s great-grandmother Gerónima was the daughter of Luis Afán and Antonia Zamora.
Noli’s maternal grandmother was named Cesaria Girón.
