Ona Mafalda is a British singer and songwriter. Her grandfather, Simeon II, was the last reigning Tsar of Bulgaria, and was also the country’s Prime Minister.

Ona was born in London. She is a member of the former Bulgarian royal family, and is of the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha-Koháry. She is the daughter of Spanish-born parents, Kyril, Prince of Preslav, and Rosario Nadal (María del Rosario Nadal y Fuster de Puigdórfila), who is a consultant, art director, and model. Her father was born in Madrid. Her mother was born on Palma de Mallorca, Mallorca, Balearic Islands. Her uncle was Kardam, Prince of Tarnovo.

Ona’s mother is said to be descended from Isabel Moctezuma, daughter of Aztec emperor Moctezuma II (c. 1466-1520).

Ona’s paternal grandfather is Simeon II (the son of Boris III of Bulgaria and Giovanna of Savoy). Simeon was born in Princess Clementine Hospital, Sofia, Tsardom of Bulgaria, and is a politician, who was, as a child, Tsar of Bulgaria, from 28 August, 1943 to 15 September, 1946; and as an adult, Prime Minister of Bulgaria, from 24 July, 2001 to 17 August, 2005, and Leader of the National Movement Simeon the Second party, from 6 April, 2002 to 28 November, 2009. Ona’s great-grandfather Boris was born Boris Klemens Robert Maria Pius Ludwig Stanislaus Xaver in Royal Palace, Sofia, Bulgaria, and was Tsar of Bulgaria, from 3 October, 1918 to 28 August, 1943. His father, Ferdinand I of Bulgaria, was born Ferdinand Maximilian Karl Leopold Maria in Vienna, and was Prince of Bulgaria, from 7 July, 1887 to 5 October, 1908, and Tsar of Bulgaria, from 5 October, 1908 to 3 October, 1918. Boris’s mother, Ona’s great-great-grandmother, Princess Marie Louise of Bourbon-Parma, was born in Maria Luisa Pia Teresa Anna Ferdinanda Francesca Antonietta Margherita Giuseppina Carolina Bianca Lucia Apollonia di Borbone-Parma in Rome. Her father was Robert I, Duke of Parma.

Ona’s great-grandmother Giovanna was born Giovanna Elisabetta Antonia Romana Maria in Rome, Kingdom of Italy. Her father, Victor Emmanuel III (Vittorio Emanuele Ferdinando Maria Gennaro di Savoia-Carignano), was born in Naples, and was King of Italy, from 29 July, 1900 to 9 May, 1946; Emperor of Ethiopia, from 9 May, 1936 to 5 May, 1941; and King of the Albanians, from 16 April, 1939 to 8 September, 1943. Giovanna’s mother, Elena of Montenegro (Jelena Petrović-Njegoš), was from Cetinje, Montenegro. Elena was the daughter of Ona’s great-great-great-grandfather, Nicholas I of Montenegro, who was King of Montenegro, from 28 August, 1910 to 26 November, 1918.

Ona’s paternal grandmother is Margarita Saxe-Coburg-Gotha (the daughter of Manuel Gómez-Acebo y Modet, 4th Marquess of Cortina, and of María de las Mercedes Cejuela y Fernández). Margarita was born in Madrid, Spanish Republic. Manuel was a state counsellor, and a lawyer for commercial and banking companies. He was the son of politician José Gómez Acebo y Cortina, 3rd Marquess of Cortina, and of Margarita Marta Modet y Almagro. Ona’s great-grandmother María was the daughter of Manuel Cejuela y González-Orduña and María de las Mercedes Fernández Molano.

Ona’s maternal grandfather was named Miguel Nadal y Bestard.

Ona’s maternal grandmother was named Isabel Fuster de Puigdórfila y Villanova (the daughter of Joaquín de Puigdórfila y Zaforteza, 9th Count of Olocau).
