Patty Mills, also known as Patrick Mills, is an Australian professional basketball player. A point guard and shooting guard, he played for the Portland Trail Blazers, the Idaho Stampede of the NBA G League, the Melbourne Tigers of the National Basketball League (NBL), the Xinjiang Flying Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), the San Antonio Spurs, the Brooklyn Nets, the Atlanta Hawks, the Miami Heat, the Utah Jazz, and the Los Angeles Clippers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He represented the Boomers, the Australia national team.
Patty is the son of Benny and Yvonne Mills. His father is from the Torres Strait Islands, located in between the northern tip of Queensland and Papua New Guinea. The culture and language of the Torres Strait Islands has influence from both the Australian mainland and Papua New Guinea. His mother is Aboriginal, Kokatha; her own father was white and her mother was Aboriginal. His mother is part of the Stolen Generation, taken from her parents by the government in 1949 after her parents separated.
Patty is a nephew of Olympian basketball player Danny Morseu, and a great-nephew of Indigenous land rights activist Eddie Mabo (Edward Koiki Sambo). He is a cousin of rugby league players Edrick Lee and Brenko Lee, and of professional basketball player Nathan Jawai .
Patty is married to Alyssa Levesque Mills.
