Paul Johansson is an American-Canadian actor, film director, and television director. His roles include the Highlander: The Raven and One Tree Hill series, and the film Atlas Shrugged: Part I , which he also directed.
Paul is the son of Canadian parents, Joanne and professional ice hockey player Earl Johnson (born Earl Otto Johansson). His father was born in Fort Frances, Rainy River District, Ontario. His mother was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. Among Paul’s siblings is comedian Pete Johansson.
Paul’s paternal grandfather was Jarl Otto Johansson (the son of Per Johan Johansson and Anna Elisabeth Persson). Jarl was born in Ovansjö, Borgsjö, Västernorrland, Sweden. Per was the son of Johan Persson and Marta Catharina Nordell. Anna was the daughter of Pehr Jonasson and Maria Greta Larsdotter.
Paul’s paternal grandmother was Eva Marie/Marie Larocque (the daughter of Alfred Joseph Larocque and Marie Antoinette Poirier). Paul’s grandmother Maria was born in Pinewood, Rainy River, Ontario, and was French-Canadian. Alfred was born in Ottawa, Carleton, Ontario, the son of Augustin Larocque and Henriette Boivin, who were from Québec. Paul’s great-grandmother Marie Antoinette was born in Manitoba, the daughter of Alphonse Poirier and Marie Helene Bernardette Brule, who were also from Québec.
Paul’s maternal grandfather was Claude Tasman/Taman Proud (the son of Robert Andrew Proud and Jessie Thomson). Claude was born in Vancouver, Metro Vancouver Regional District, British Columbia. Robert was born in Owen Sound, Grey, Ontario, the son of George Wilson Proud, whose parents were Irish, with his father having been from Armagh; and of Isabella McGibbon Sturgeon. Paul’s great-grandmother Jessie evidently was from New Zealand, the daughter of George Thomson and Jessie Burrows.
Paul’s maternal grandmother was Joan Ethel King (the daughter of Francis/Frances Augustus “Frank” King and Florence Loretta Barron). Joan was born in Burnaby, Metro Vancouver Regional District, British Columbia. Francis was born in Jacquet River, Restigouche County, New Brunswick, the son of Hugh King, who was Irish; and of Leticia/Letitia Furlotte/Firlott, whose father was French-Canadian, and whose mother was from County Wexford, Ireland. Paul’s great-grandmother Florence was born in East Hawkesbury, Prescott and Russell United Counties, Ontario, also of Irish heritage. She was the daughter of Joseph Barron, whose mother was born in Ireland; and of Mary Fitzpatrick, whose father was born in Ireland.
