Pernilla August is a Swedish actress, director, and screenwriter. She started acting during her childhood in theatre and at school. Her professional acting career started in 1975. She is also known as Pernilla Östergren.
Pernilla has a daughter with her former husband, novelist, short story writer, screenwriter, and translator Klas Östergren; and two children, including actress and singer Alba August, with her former husband, Danish director, screenwriter, and cinematographer Bille August.
Pernilla’s paternal grandfather was Bo Vidar Hertzman-Ericson (the son of Olof Emil Victor Eriksson and Gurli Frida Oscaria Hertzman). Bo was born in Sandhem, Jönköpings län. Olof was the son of Fabian Eriksson and Agnes Amalia Margareta Swartz. Gurli was the daughter of Oscar/Oskar Anders Hertzman and Märta Skröder.
Pernilla’s paternal grandmother was the daughter of Ernst Mattias Lundberg and Astrid Carolina Elfrida Svensson. Ernst was born in Gävle, Gavleborg County, the son of Lars Lundberg and Anna Matilda Björkman. Astrid was born in Ryssland, Helsingborg, Stadsförsamlingen, Skåne County, the daughter of Anders Svensson amnd Carolina Andersdotter.
Pernilla’s maternal grandfather was Josef Emanuel Palmius/Pettersson (the son of Anders Gustaf Borg/Andersson and Carolina Axelina Pettersson). Josef was born in Almby, Örebro Län. Anders was the son of Anna Mathilda Nilsdotter. Carolina was the daughter of Peter Pettersson and Lovisa Carolina Persdotter.
