Pete Doherty is a British musician, songwriter, actor, poet, writer, and artist. He is the co-frontman of rock band The Libertines. He has also been on lead vocals and rhythm guitar for rock band Babyshambles and Peter Doherty and the Puta Madres.
Pete is the son of Jacqueline and Peter John Doherty. His father was a major in the Royal Signals. His mother was a lance-corporal in Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps. His father was of Irish and English descent. His maternal grandfather was of Russian Jewish descent, and his maternal grandmother was of English ancestry.
Pete is married to musician Katia de Vidas, who is his bandmate in Puta Madres. He has a son with singer and songwriter Lisa Moorish ; a daughter with South African model Lindi Hingston; and a daughter with Katia.
Pete’s paternal grandfather was Timothy Peter Doherty (the son of John Doherty and Josephine McCormack). Timothy was born in Lower Grange, near Cheekpoint, Waterford, Ireland.
Pete’s paternal grandmother was Doris Winifred Ford (the daughter of William Alfred Ford and Emily Edith Bland). Emily was born in Hendon, Middlesex, England, the daughter of William Bland and Emily Amelia Woodington.
Pete’s maternal grandfather was Percy/Paris/Pario Michels (the son of Maurice/Moise Michels and Chana Peress). Percy was born in Liverpool, Lancashire, to Russian Jewish parents.
Pete’s maternal grandmother was Doris Cannell (the daughter of James Cannell and Mary Hart Nisbet). Doris was born in West Derby, Lancashire. James was born in Liverpool, the son of James Cannell and Margaret Elizabeth Ryder. Mary was born in Liverpool, the daughter of Thomas Henderson Nisbet and Mary Joanna Lawrence.
