Phil Scott is an American politician, businessperson, and stock car racer. A Republican, he has been Governor of Vermont, since January 5, 2017. He was previously Lieutenant Governor of Vermont, from January 6, 2011 to January 5, 2017.
Phil is the son of Marian Olive (Beckley) and Howard Roy Scott. His ancestry is heavily concentrated in New England, particularly Vermont, where he has deep roots. He is married to Diana McTeague, and has two children.
Phil’s paternal grandfather was Roy John Scott (the son of William John Scott and Ida Jane/Jennie Lyman). Roy was born in Chicago, Cook, Illinois. William was born in Marshall County, Illinois, the son of John Scott, who was born in Ireland, and of Sarah C.
