Philip Carey was an American actor. He was initially a movie star, featuring in many films including The Tanks Are Coming , The Man Behind the Gun , Calamity Jane (1953), The Nebraskan , The Outlaw Stallion , They Rode West , Three Stripes in the Sun , Port Afrique , Screaming Mimi , Black Gold , Dead Ringer (1964), Once You Kiss a Stranger , and Scream of the Wolf ; and later starred on the soap opera One Life to Live . He was also known as Phil Carey.
Philip was the son of Beatrice and Edward Eugene Carey. He was raised in Rosedale, Queens, and Malverne, New York. He was married to Colleen Welch, until his death. He had three children with his former wife Maureen Peppler; and two children with Colleen.
Philip’s paternal grandfather was Patrick John Carey (the son of William Carey and Ann Rohan). Patrick was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, to Irish immigrants. William was the son of Michael Carey and Mary. Ann was the daughter of Peter Rohan and Margaret “Peggy” Garrity.
Philip’s paternal grandmother was Barbara Mary Loehr (the daughter of Jospeh Loehr/Löhr and Mary Clapp). Barbara emigrated with her parents from Umpenbach, Bavaria, Germany. Joseph was the son of Franz Josef Löhr and Maria Anna Bauer, who were from Külsheim, Main-Tauber-Kreis, Baden-Württemberg.
Philip’s maternal grandfather was John Joseph Hayden (the son of John J. Hayden and Honora O’Toole). Philip’s grandfather John was Irish.
Philip’s maternal grandmother was Bridget Theresa Cunehan (the daughter of Matthew Cunehan and Johanna Noonan). Bridget was born in New York, to Irish parents.
