Pilou Asbæk is a Danish actor.
His father, Jacob A. Asbæk, is Danish, from Hammel. His mother, Maria Patricia, was born in Casablanca, Morocco, of Danish and French descent. His parents run the gallery Galerie Asbæk, in Copenhagen. His brothers Thomas and Martin also work in art galleries. The name Pilou is a French version of the word Pip, as Pilou was the youngest son; an abbreviation of “Petit Philip.”
He is married to playwright Anna Bro, with whom he has a daughter. Anna is the daughter of actors Hans Henrik Clemensen and Vigga Bro.
Pilou’s paternal grandfather was Siegfred Pedersen (the son of Rasmus Jespersen Pedersen and Marie Kirstine Kristensen). Siegfred was born in Hammel Sogn, Gjern Herred, Skanderborg Amt. Rasmus was the son of Seier Pedersen and Karen Marie Rasmussen.
