Robert Fico is a Slovak politician. He has been Prime Minister of Slovakia, from 4 July, 2006 to 8 July, 2010, and again, from 4 April, 2012 to 22 March, 2018. He has also been Deputy Speaker of the National Council, from 9 July, 2010 to 4 April, 2012, and a Member of the National Council, since 22 March, 2018, and, previously, from 23 June, 1992 to 4 July, 2006, and from 8 July, 2010 to 4 April, 2012.

His father, Ľudovit Fico, was a forklift operator, and his mother, Emilie Ficová, worked in a shoe store. He was raised partly in Hrušovany. He is married to lawyer and associate professor Svetlana Svobodová, with whom he has a son. Robert speaks Slovak, Czech, English, and Russian.
