Robert is the son of Nadine and Robert Merle Patrick. His brother, Richard Patrick, is the singer of rock band Filter. Robert is married to actress Barbara Hooper, with whom he has two children.
He is a devout Episcopalian. All of his grandparents had deep roots in the U.S., three of them in the deep South, and one in New England.
