Roger Staubach is an American professional football player. A quarterback, he played eleven seasons for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL). He was voted Super Bowl MVP for Super Bowl VI (1972). He also started a real estate company, The Staubach Company. He is nicknamed “Roger the Dodger,” “Captain America,” and “Captain Comeback.”
Roger is the son of Elizabeth, a secretary for General Motors, and Robert Joseph Staubach, a shoe and leather salesman. He was raised in Silverton, a northeastern suburb of Cincinnati. He is married to Marianne, with whom he has had five children.
Roger’s paternal grandfather was David Thomas Staubach (the son of George Adam Staubach and Mary Anne Mulligan). David was born in Indiana. George was born in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio. Mary Anne was born in Ohio, the daughter of Irish parents, Thomas Mulligan and Maria “Mary” Farrell.
