Romy Schneider was an Austrian-German-French actress. Romy was the daughter of actress and singer Magda Schneider (born Magdalena Maria Schneider) and actor Wolf Albach-Retty (born Wolfgang Helmuth Albert Albach Retty). Her father was born in Vienna, and was a leading actor in Vienna’s Volkstheater. Her mother was born in Augsburg, Kingdom of Bavaria, German Empire, and was a prominent musical film actress. Her paternal grandmother was theatre actress Rosa Albach-Retty. Her father was a patron member of the SS, and a member of the Nazi Party. Her mother associated with Adolf Hitler. She was partly raised on the country estate Mariengrund, in Schönau am Königssee, Germany, with her maternal grandparents; and attended private school at Castle Goldenstein, near Salzburg. Romy later became a French citizen.

Romy had a son with her former husband, German director and actor Harry Meyen; and a daughter, French actress Sarah Biasini , with her former husband, French journalist, realtor, scriptwriter, and secretary Daniel Biasini.

Romy’s paternal grandfather was named Karl Walter Albach. Karl was an officer of the kaiserlich und königlich.

Romy’s paternal grandmother was Rosa Albach-Retty (born Rosa Clara Franziska Helene Retty, the daughter of Rudolf Retty and Maria Katharina/Käthe Schaeffer). Rosa was born in Hanau, Darmstadt, Hesse-Nassau, German Empire. Rudolf Retty was an actor and director.

Romy’s maternal grandfather was Franz Xaver/Xaverius Schneider (the son of Thomas Schneider and Anna Gutesam).
