Ryan Tedder, or Alias, is an American singer, songwriter, musician, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer. He is the frontman, and co-founder, of pop rock band OneRepublic, which also includes Brent Kutzle . He has appeared on competition shows The Voice and Songland .
Ryan is the son of Marlene Grace, a schoolteacher, and Gary Tedder, a musician. He is a cousin of Adam, Ashley, and Austin Clark, who were members of country music band The Clark Family Experience, and comprised country pop trio Sons of Sylvia. Many of his family members are missionaries and pastors. Ryan attended school in Jenks and Deer Creek, in Oklahoma. He is married to Genevieve, with whom he has two children.
Ryan’s patrilineal line may trace to Richard Tudor, who was born, c. 1629, in England.
Ryan’s paternal grandfather was Lawrence Edward/Edwin Tedder (the son of James Monroe Tedder and Lera Jane Shook). Lawrence was born in Arkansas. James was the son of Joseph Washington Tedder and Mary Margaret Green Pitts Bailey. Lera was the daughter of Jesse Alexander “Alex” Shook and Nancy Ophelia “Nannie” Green.
Ryan’s paternal grandmother was Gladys Flodene Ruple (the daughter of Marvin Worth “Jack” Ruple and Frances Cortney “Frank” Mobley). Gladys was born in Arkansas. Marvin was the son of Walter Lycurgus Ruple and Alma Bell/Belle Price. Frances was the daughter of William Monroe Mobley and Mollie Bell Bailey.
Ryan’s maternal grandfather was Cornelius Benjamin Watrous (the son of Clifton Stephen Watrous and Clara Gertrude Whipple). Cornelius was born in Connecticut. Clifton was the son of Stephen Carl H. Watrous and Cynthia Betsy Crouch. Clara was the daughter of Allen Judson Whipple and Alice Gertrude Crouch.
Ryan’s maternal grandmother was Mary Esther Crandall (the daughter of Harry/Henry Willis Crandall and Mary Jane Duncan). Ryan’s grandmother Mary was born in North Carolina. Harry was the son of William Henry Crandall and Martha Eva Crouch. Ryan’s great-grandmother Mary Jane was the daughter of Henry Joshua Duncan and Eliza Jane Bell.
