Sam Huff was an American professional football player. A linebacker, he played for the New York Giants and the Washington Redskins of the National Football League (NFL). He was also a linebackers coach, and then a defense coach, for the Washington Redskins.
Sam was the son of Catherine and Oral Huff. He was raised in a coal mining camp. Sam had three children with his former wife Mary Helen.
Sam’s paternal grandfather was James Alexander Huff (the son of Ahi J. Huff and Julia Ann Frances Poe). Ahi was born in Virginia, the son of Henry C. Huff and Catharine Hardman.
Sam’s paternal grandmother was Martha Jane Burgoyne/Burgione (the daughter of Henry Harrison Burgoyne and Elizabeth Catherine Guthrie).
