Sara Malakul Lane is a Thai model and actress. She has starred in the Kickboxer films. She is also known as Sara Malakul Grove.
She was born in Guam, to a Scottish father, Alastair Lane, and a Thai mother, Thapthim Malakul na Ayudhaya. She grew up between the U.S. and Bangkok, Thailand, and lives in Singapore and Los Angeles. Her mother descends from the Chakri dynasty, the reigning dynasty of Thailand. Sara is married to Singaporean-Australian tech entreprenaur Patrick Grove, with whom she has four children.
Sara’s maternal grandfather was Mom Luang Pikthip Malakul. Pikthip was a diplomat, who was Ambassador of Thailand to Myanmar and the U.K. Pikthip’s great-grandfather was Rama II, who was Viceroy of Siam, from 1808 to 7 September, 1809, and King of Siam, from 7 September, 1809 to 21 July, 1824. The name Malakul was bestowed by King Vajiravudh on 30 May, 1913, due to the royal act which prescribed the use of surnames.
