Sarah Wynter is an Australian actress. She is known for her roles on American television, especially 24 , Windfall , and Flight of the Conchords , and in the films Species II , Lost Souls (2000), Bride of the Wind , and Shooting Livien .
Sarah is the daughter of Helen Cummings, an author, and worker in the Newcastle registry of the Family Court of Australia, and Stuart Wynter, a physician. Her maternal grandmother, Joy Cummings, was a politician, who was Australia’s first female Lord Mayor. In 1984, Sarah’s father killed her stepmother and half-sister, and then himself.
She has three children with her former husband, American writer, editor, and media personality Dan Peres.
Sarah’s paternal grandfather was Arnold Maxwell Wynter (the son of Thomas Hutchinson Wynter, Jr. and Catherine Dyball). Arnold was born in Taree, New South Wales. Thomas was the son of English emigrants, from London, Thomas Hutchinson Wynter, from Westminster, and Emma Tilney. Catherine was the daughter of Thomas William Dyball and Matilda Wootton, who were both the children of emigrants from England, and both also had some Irish ancestry.
Sarah’s paternal grandmother was Eva May Alison Holbrook (the daughter of Sidney Holbrook and Catherine Allison). Eva was born in New South Wales, Australia. Catherine was the daughter of Scottish emigrants, John Allison, from Linlithgowshire, and Jane/Jean McDonald, from Kilsyth, Stirlingshire.
Sarah’s maternal grandfather was named Ray Cummings.
Sarah’s maternal grandmother was Joy Cummings (born Joyce Ann Plumbe, the daughter of Dallas Alexander Duncan Plumbe and Charlotte Grace Lowe). Joy was born in Ramsgate, New South Wales, and was Lord Mayor of Newcastle, from September 1974 to September 1976, and again, from September 1977 to 16 April, 1984. Sarah’s great-grandfather Dallas was the son of William Maxwell Plumbe, an English emigrant, from Everton, Lancashire, and of Ann McIntyre McLennan, who was the daughter of a Scottish emigrant father, from Contin, and of a mother who born in Australia, to Scottish parents. Sarah’s great-grandmother Charlotte was the daughter of Daniel Lowe, an English emigrant, from London, and of Ann “Annie” Deasey, who was an Irish emigrant, from Kenmare, County Kerry.
