Sébastien Lecornu is a French politician. He has served as Prime Minister of France , since 9 September, 2025. He has also been Mayor of Vernon, from 5 April, 2014 to 4 December, 2015, Vice-President of Seine Normandie Agglomération, from 18 April, 2014 to 3 November, 2020, President of the Departmental Council of Eure, from 2 April, 2015 to 10 July, 2017, and again, from 1 July, 2021 to 16 December, 2022; Minister for Local Authorities, from 16 October, 2018 to 6 July, 2020, Minister of the Overseas, from 6 July, 2020 to 20 May, 2022, and Minister of the Armed Forces, from 20 May, 2022 to 5 October 2025, and again, from 6 October, 2025 to 12 October, 2025.
He is the son of Martine Rousseau, a medical secretary, and Jean-Pierre Lecornu, an aeronautical technician at a Safran Aircraft Engines factory. His grandfather was a resistance fighter, Gaullist, and vice-president of a chamber of commerce in Calvados.
Sébastien’s paternal grandfather was Pierre René Alexandre Lecornu (the son of Alexandre Joseph Jean Lecornu and Hélène Vitaline Lucie Favret). Pierre was born in Villers-en-Ouche, Orne, Normandy. Sébastien’s great-grandfather Alexandre was born in Champsecret, Orne, the son of Jean Lecornu and Modeste Marie Chochon.
