Shemar Moore is an American actor and model. His roles include the series The Young and the Restless , Birds of Prey , Criminal Minds , and S.W.A.T. ; the made-for-tv movies Mama Flora’s Family , How to Marry a Billionaire: A Christmas Tale , and Reversible Errors ; and the films Hav Plenty , Butter (1998), The Brothers (2001), Motives (2004), The Seat Filler , Diary of a Mad Black Woman , Kill Me, Deadly ; Justice League: War , Justice League: Throne of Atlantis , The Bounce Back , Justice League vs. Teen Titans , The Death of Superman , Reign of the Supermen , Justice League Dark: Apokolips War , and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and 3 . He hosted Soul Train .
Shemar is the son of Marilyn and Franklin Sherrod Moore. His father was African-American. His mother, who was from Boston, was of half Irish and half French-Canadian descent, including distant Belgian Walloon. As a child, he lived abroad with his mother, then settling in Chico, California. He spent most of his youth in Northern California. He has a daughter with his former partner Jesiree Dizon.
Shemar’s maternal grandfather was Herbert Joseph Wilson (the son of William O. Wilson and Mary A. Shea). Herbert was born in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts, to Canadian parents, and was of Irish descent. William was born in New Brunswick, the son of Nelson Wilson and Catherine Burns. Shemar’s great-grandmother Mary was born in Newfoundland, the daughter of Michael Shea, whose father was born in Ireland; and of Catherine Devine, whose parents were also Irish.
Shemar’s maternal grandmother was Marie Leona Falardeau (the daughter of Joseph Narcisse Falardeau and Marie Anna Letitia Maillot). Shemar’s grandmother Marie was born in St-Didace, Québec, Canada, and was French-Canadian. Joseph was born in St-Didace, the son of Narcisse Falardeau and Hermine/Hermina Latour-Laforge. Shemar’s great-grandmother Marie was born in St-Didace, the daughter of Jerome Maillot/Mailhot/Maillotte and Marie Louise Coutu.
Shemar’s matrilineal line can be traced to Anne Michel, who was born, c. 1648.
