Sid Vicious was a British bassist and vocalist. He was the bass guitarist of punk rock band Sex Pistols. Other members of the band were Paul Cook, Steve Jones, Glen Matlock, and Johnny Rotten . He was also a member of rock band Siouxsie and the Banshees, with Siouxsie Sioux and Robert Smith . Sid was also known as Spikey John, The Prince of Punk, Simon Ferocious, John Simon Beverley, and One of the Johns.
Sid was the son of Anne Jeanette (McDonald) and John George Ritchie, a soldier. His father was from Lambeth, London. His mother was from Manchester, Lancashire, England. His stepfather was Christopher James Beverley.
Sid dated Nancy Spungen, who was founded dead of a stab wound in their hotel room in October 1978. Sid was charged with her second-degree murder, and was released on bail; during that time, he died of a heroin overdose. Nancy was American, of Russian Jewish and Austrian Jewish descent.
