Simon Bird is an English comedian, actor, director, and producer. He is known for his roles on the series The Inbetweeners , The King is Dead , Friday Night Dinner , Chickens , and Everyone Else Burns ; as well as in The Inbetweeners Movie , and its sequel; The Look of Love , The Harry Hill Movie , and You, Me and Him . He created The King is Dead and co-created Chickens , and wrote for both. He also directed the film Days of the Bagnold Summer , written by his wife Lisa Owens.
He is the son of academics Heather and Graham Bird. A picture of Simon’s father can be seen here . His brother, Alan Bird, is Head at City of London School. While he played a Jewish character on the series Friday Night Dinner , Simon himself is not of Jewish background.
Simon and Lisa, a writer, have two children.
Simon’s maternal grandfather was Ernest Gordon Gage (the son of Gustavus George Gage and Annie Williams). Ernest was born in Amesbury, Wiltshire, England. Gustavus was the son of George Smith Gage and Isabella.
Simon’s maternal grandmother was Hazel Mary Robinson (the daughter of John Eathorne Robinson and Harriet Annie Pickwell). Hazel was born in Frome, Somerset, England. John was the son of John Robinson and Mary Littler.
