Skip Homeier was an American actor. He started his career at the age of eleven, and became a child star. His roles included the films Tomorrow, the World! , Boys’ Ranch , Arthur Takes Over , Mickey (1948), The Big Cat , The Gunfighter (1950), Sealed Cargo , Fixed Bayonets! , Has Anybody Seen My Gal? , Beachhead , The Lone Gun , Cry Vengeance (1954), Ten Wanted Men , The Road to Denver , At Gunpoint , Stranger at My Door , Dakota Incident , Thunder Over Arizona , The Burning Hills , Between Heaven and Hell , No Road Back , The Tall T , Day of the Badman , Plunderers of Painted Flats , Comanche Station , Stark Fear , Showdown (1963), Bullet for a Badman , The Ghost and Mr. Chicken , and Quell and Co. ; the shows Rawhide , The Virginian , Combat! , and Star Trek , and the made-for-tv movie Helter Skelter (1976). He was also known as Skippy Homeier.
Skip was the son of Ruth Elizabeth and George Vincent Homeier. He was married to Della Sharman, until his death. He had two children with his former wife Nancy Van Noorden Field.
Skip’s paternal grandfather was George Penrose Homeier (the son of William August Homeier and Salome Bailey). George was born in Lordstown, Ohio. William was a German emigrant, from Hesse, and was the son of Heinrich Wilhelm Homeier and Caroline Wilhelmine Wehrmann. Salome was born in Austintown Township, Ohio, the daughter of James Jesse Bailey, whose paternal grandmother was German; and of Salome Kistler. The surname Bailey was changed from Baehli a few generations back.
Skip’s paternal grandmother was Emma Barbara Zengler (the daughter of Aloysius Zengler and Sophia Markling). Emma was born in Magnolia, Carroll, Ohio. Aloysius was born in Morges, Carroll, the son of Antoine Zengler and Maria Anna Lash/Dasche, who were emigrants from Hommert, Lorraine, France. Sophia was German, the daughter of Claudius Markling and Magdalena Crist, who were ethnic Germans from Lichtenberg, France.
Skip’s maternal grandfather was Charles Gross Fancher (the son of John Hale Fancher and Achsah Lorinda Gross). Charles was born in Springfield, Illinois, to parents from New York, and had deep lines in the U.S. John was born in Essex, the son of Charles Grant Fancher and Ann Eliza Hale. Achsah was born in Freetown, Cortland, the daughter of The Rev. Alba Gross and Alathea Smith, whose paternal grandparents were English, from West Yorkshire and Lancashire, respectively.
Skip’s maternal grandmother was Mary Calvin Morrison (the daughter of James H. Morrison and Mary Ross). Skip’s grandmother Mary was born in Missouri, to parents from Pennsylvania.
