Stanley Tucci is an American actor, writer, director, producer, and audiobook narrator. A prolific character actor, his roles include the films Prizzi’s Honor , Billy Bathgate , Beethoven (1992), Big Night , which he co-directed and co-wrote; Deconstructing Harry , The Impostors (1998), which he directed and wrote; A Midsummer Night’s Dream , In Too Deep (1999), Joe Gould’s Secret , which he directed; America’s Sweethearts , Big Trouble (2002), Road to Perdition , The Terminal , The Devil Wears Prada , Blind Date (2007), which he directed and co-wrote; Julie & Julia , The Lovely Bones , Easy A , Burlesque , Margin Call , Captain America: The First Avenger , The Hunger Games franchise, The Company You Keep (2012), Jack the Giant Slayer (2013), Spotlight , Night Hunter , The Silence (2019), Worth , Supernova , The Witches (2020), Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody , and Conclave (2024); the made-for-tv movies Winchell (1998), Conspiracy (2001), and The Life and Death of Peter Sellers ; the series Murder One , 3 lbs , Feud: Bette & Joan , Limetown , and, in voice performance, Central Park ; and various works on stage. Stanley is the son of Joan, a secretary and writer, and Stanley Tucci, an art teacher. His sister is actress Christine Tucci and his cousin is screenwriter Joseph Tropiano. He was raised in Katonah, New York. Stanley was married to social worker Kathryn Spath-Tucci, until her death. He is now married to English literary agent Felicity Blunt; Felicity is a sister of actress Emily Blunt . Stanley has three children with Kathryn; and two with Felicity.
He is of Italian descent on both sides of his family, generally in Calabria.
Stanley’s paternal grandfather was Lorenzo Stanislao “Stanley” Tucci (the son of Francesco Scarpellino Tucci and Rosa Rosario Calabrese). Lorenzo was from Marzi, Province of Cosenza, Calabria, Italy. Francesco was the son of Angelo Gabriele Sarto Tucci and Aloisia Luisa.
Stanley’s paternal grandmother was Anna Teresa/Theresa Nicolosi Pisani (the daughter of Domenico/Dominick Pisani and Appolonia/Apollonia Politi). Anna was Italian. Her parents were from Serra San Bruno, Province of Vibo Valentia, Calabria. Appolonia was the daughter of Domenico Politi and Maria Giuseppa Timpano.
Stanley’s maternal grandfather was named Vincenzo Tropiano. Vincenzo was from Cittanova, Province of Reggio Calabria.
Stanley’s maternal grandmother was Concetta Trimarchi (the daughter of Guiseppi Trimarchi and Angela Albanese). Concetta was from Cittanova.
