Sterling Sharpe is an American professional football player. A wide receiver, he played his entire career with the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League (NFL).

Sterling is the son of Mary Alice and Pete Sharpe. His brother is professional football player Shannon Sharpe , who is an NFL Hall of Fame tight end. He was partly raised in Glennville, Georgia.

Sterling’s maternal grandfather was Barney Porter (the son of William Mitchell Porter, Sr. and Mahala Shipman).

Sterling’s maternal grandmother was named Mary Viola Washington.
