Stiv Bators, also known as Stiv Bator, was an American punk rock vocalist and guitarist. He was a member of punk rock band Dead Boys, British punk band The Wanderers, and British-American rock band/supergroup The Lords of the New Church.
He was the son of Marian L. (Denmeade) and Stephen J. Bator. His father was born in Kluknava, Gelnica, Slovakia, to a Slovak father, and to an American-born mother, of Slovak origin. Stiv’s father fought in WWII for the U.S. Stiv was said to have been of Romani descent. It is not clear if this is accurate. Stiv’s mother was born in Struthers, Mahoning County, Ohio.
Stiv’s paternal grandfather was named Steven/Stephen Bator. Steven was born in Slovakia.
Stiv’s paternal grandmother was named Anna Halko. Anna was born in Pennsylvania, to Slovak parents.
Stiv’s maternal grandfather was George Samuel Denmeade (the son of Henry “Harry” Denmeade and Lena “Selina” Thomas). George was born in Pennsylvania, to English parents, from West Bromwich, Metropolitan Borough of Sandwell, West Midlands. Henry was the son of George Denmeade and Martha Allen. Stiv’s great-grandmother Lena was the daughter of Margaret Thomas.
Stiv’s maternal grandmother was Lucille Myrtle “Celia” Miller (the daughter of William Latimer Miller and Lucinda Sipe). Lucille was born in York County, Pennsylvania, and was of German descent. William was the son of Abraham S. Miller and Cordilla Keister Parthemore. Stiv’s great-grandmother Lucinda was the daughter of Augustus Sipe and Elizabeth Ashenfelder.
