Stuart Adamson was a Scottish rock guitarist and singer. He was a founding member of punk rock band Skids, founded, and was lead singer and guitarist for, rock band Big Country; and was a member of alternative country band The Raphaels.
He was born in Barton, Lancashire, England, to Anne and William Adamson, a fishing industry executive. Stuart was raised in mining village Crossgates, east of Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland. He was married to hairdresser Melanie Shelley. He had two children, entrepreneur Callum Adamson and musician Kirsten, with his former wife Sandra.
Stuart’s maternal grandfather’s surname was Muir.
