T. J. Miller is an American actor, director, producer, writer, and comedian.

T. J. is the son of Leslie, a clinical psychologist, and Kent Miller, an attorney. His father is of English, Swedish, German, and Scottish descent. His mother was adopted, by a Jewish family, of German Jewish, Austrian Jewish, Russian Jewish, and Lithuanian Jewish descent. At the time, the late 1940s, most children adopted by Jewish parents were born to Jewish mothers (and sometimes also Jewish fathers).

He is married to actress and installation artist Kate Gorney/Miller.

T. J.’s paternal grandfather was Ernest William Miller (the son of Albert Monroe Miller and Alta K. Roberts). Ernest was born in Kansas. Albert was the son of Phillip Miller and Mary Ellen Vaughn. Alta was the daughter of Thomas A. Roberts and Cornelia Acenath Kenneday.
