Ted is married to Grace Anne Dorney, with whom he has four children, including journalist and tech entrepreneur Andrea Koppel. Andrea is married to intelligence analyst and Middle East/military expert Kenneth M. Pollack.
Ted’s paternal grandfather was Emil Koppel (the son of Jakob Koppel and Karoline Gutmann). Emil was born in Dehlingen, Bas-Rhin, Alsace, France. Jakob was the son of Judas Koppel and Babette Liebmann. Karoline was the daughter of Josef Gutmann and Fanny Bühler.
