Timur Bekmambetov is a Kazakh director, producer, and screenwriter. He is known for his film Night Watch , Day Watch , Wanted , and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter , among others.
His father, Nuruakhit Bekmambetov, was a manager at the Guryev Energy company, and is of Kazakh descent. His mother, Mira (Bogoslavskaya) Bekmambetova, was a journalist, the deputy editor at the Prikaspiyskaya Kommuna. She is said to have been Jewish.
Timur is married to costume designer Varvara Viktorovna Avdyushko.
