Titus Welliver is an American actor, and painter. His roles include Det. Hieronymus “Harry” Bosch on the shows Bosch and Bosch: Legacy , as well as television’s Lost , Deadwood , and Sons of Anarchy , and the films Mulholland Falls , Assault on Precinct 13 (2015), Gone Baby Gone , The Town (2010), Man on a Ledge , Argo , Promised Land (2012), Transformers: Age of Extinction , Live by Night , Escape Plan 2: Hades , An Affair to Die For , Shaft (2019), and, in voice role, Batman: The Long Halloween and Watchmen Chapter I and II (2024).
His mother, Norma (Cripps), was a fashion illustrator. His father, Neil Welliver (Neil Gavin Welliver), was a modern artist, known for landscape paintings of the deep woods by his home in Maine; and dean of the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Fine Art. The surname Welliver was Wohleben several generations back, and was German. He was partly raised in New York City, New York, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Titus is married to Dutch model and fashion consultant Jose Stemkens. He has a daughter with his late wife Elizabeth Alexander; and two children with his former wife, actress Joanna Heimbold.
Titus’s paternal grandfather may have been named Ralph E. Brewer.
Titus’s paternal grandmother was Mamie/Mayme Leah Welliver (the daughter of John Bartley Welliver and Martha Maranah Vaughan). Mamie was born in Pennsylvania. John was the son of Valentine Welliver and Mary Jane Brittain. Martha was born in Stockton-on-Tees, Durham, England, to Welsh parents, John Vaughan and Maranah Watkins.
Titus’s maternal grandfather was William Silas Cripps (the son of William Henry Cripps and Margaret Jane Kelley/Kelly). Titus’s grandfather William was born in Pennsylvania. William was the son of William Cripps and Elizabeth Ann Ashton. Margaret was the daughter of Hugh Kelly and Sarah Clark.
Titus’s maternal grandmother was Julia Anna Shaeffer (the daughter of John H. Shaeffer and Jane/Jennie Gale Marlow). Julia was born in Pennsylvania. John was the son of John B. Shaeffer and Isabella Shipley. Jane was the daughter of John Marlow and Mary Louise Bonsall.
