Tom Noonan was an American actor, director, and screenwriter. His roles included the films Gloria (1980), Wolfen , Eddie Macon’s Run , Easy Money , F/X , Manhunter , The Monster Squad , Collision Course (1989), Mystery Train , RoboCop 2 , Last Action Hero , Heat (1995), Phoenix (1998), The Astronaut’s Wife , The Pledge (2001), Knockaround Guys , Eight Legged Freaks , The Roost , Seraphim Falls , Snow Angels , Synecdoche, New York ; The Alphabet Killer , The House of the Devil , Follow the Prophet , Anomalisa , and Wonderstruck (2017); the series Monsters , which he also wrote and directed for; North and South , The X-Files , The Beat , Damages , Hell on Wheels , 12 Monkeys , Horace and Pete , and Quarry ; and many works on stage. He directed, wrote, and starred in the films What Happened Was (1994), based on his play, and The Wife (1995). He was 6′6″.

He was the son of Rita, a mathematics teacher, and John F. Noonan, a dental surgery doctor and jazz musician. His brother was actor, playwright, and screenwriter John Ford Noonan. Tom had two children with his former wife, actress Karen Young.
