Tommy Lasorda was an American professional baseball player and manager. A pitcher, he played for the Brooklyn Dodgers and the Kansas City Athletics of Major League Baseball (MLB). He coached, and then managed, the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, as a manager.
Tommy was the son of Carmella and Sabatino Lasorda. His parents were Italian emigrants, from Tollo, Province of Chieti, Abruzzo. He was married to Jo, with whom he had two children. Tommy was a practising Catholic.
Tommy’s paternal grandfather was Pancrazio Lasorda/La Sorda (the son of Sabatino La Sorda and Liberata Polidori). Pancrazio was born in Tollo, Chieti, Abruzzo. Sabatino was born in Tollo, the son of Pancrazio della Sorda and Camilla Gialloreto. Liberata was born in Tollo, the daughter of Vincenzo Polidori and Mattia Patricelli.
Tommy’s paternal grandmother was Carmina Rosalinda Firmani (the daughter of Vincenzo Frimani/Firmani and Serafina DeLutius/De Lutiis). Carmina was born in Miglianico, Chieti, Abruzzo. Vincenzo was born in Miglianico, the son of Domenico Firmani and Serafina Lopo. Tommy’s great-grandmother Serafina was born in Miglianico, the daughter of Antonio De Lutiis and Annantonia Stella.
Tommy’s maternal grandfather was Tomasso/Tommaso Covatto/Covatta/Cavuto (the son of Domenico Cavuto and Carmina Sammaciccia). Tomasso was born in Tollo, Chieti, Abruzzo.
