Toni Cornell is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and philanthropist.
She is daughter of publicist Vicky Karayiannis and musician, singer, and songwriter Chris Cornell . Her father converted to the Greek Orthodox religion of her mother. Her parents created the Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation, aiding the homeless, the poor, and abused or neglected children.
Toni’s paternal grandfather was Edward Francis Boyle (the son of Edward John Boyle and Anona Ruth Olson/Olsen). Toni’s grandfather Edward was born in Everett, Snohomish County, Washington. Toni’s great-grandfather Edward was born in Washington. His father, Dennis Peter Boyle, was born in Renfrew, Renfrewshire, Scotland, and died in the line of duty as a firefighter, in Everett, Washington, in 1923. Dennis’s parents were Irish, from County Sligo. Edward’s mother, Toni’s great-great-grandmother, was Anna Louisa “Louise” Zahler, whose parents were German, from Trier, Rhine and Ingstetten, Alb-Donau-Kreis, Baden-Württemberg, respectively. Toni’s great-grandmother Anona was born in California, the daughter of Eivin/Ivan Olaus Olsen, later Olsen, who was a Norwegian emigrant, from Stavanger, Rogaland; and of Carrie Lorena Jones/McGuire.
Toni’s maternal grandmother was Karen Ruth Cornell (the daughter of Ralph Trivett Cornell and Marion/Marian Margaret MacNutt). Karen was born in Washington. Ralph was born in Amherst, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia, Canada, the son of Julian Trivett Cornell and Emily Keillor Emmerson. Emily’s father, Henry Robert Emmerson, was a lawyer, businessperson, politician, and philanthropist, who as a member of the Liberal Party, was Premier of New Brunswick, from October 29, 1897 to August 31, 1900. His own father was a Baptist minister. Toni’s great-grandmother Marion was born in Spokane, Spokane County, Washington, the daughter of James Frederick “Fred” MacNutt, who was born on Darnley, Prince County, Prince Edward Island; and of Clarabell/Claribel Josephine Hubbell, who was born in Wisconsin. In an interview on Howard Stern’s show, c. 2007, Toni’s father appeared to state that his mother is Jewish. This is not accurate.
Toni’s maternal grandmother is named Toni Vasil/Karayiannis.
