Tony Anholt was a British actor. His roles included the film Fear Is the Key , the shows Kate , The Strauss Family , The Protectors , Space: 1999 , Triangle , and Howards’ Way ; and the mini-series The Last Days of Pompeii .

He was born in Singapore, the son of Margaret/Margareta Grace Arbuthnot (Lysell) and Henry Anholt. His father was a Dutch Jew, from Amsterdam. His mother was born in Brastad, Göteborg och Bohus, Sweden, to a Swedish father and a British mother. Tony’s father was taken prison by the Japanese, and forced to work on the Burma Railway; he died in 1943. Many of his father’s relatives were killed in the Holocaust.

Tony’s family moved to Australia before the end of WWII, then South Africa, and then the U.K. Tony attended school in south Surrey. He had a son, actor Christien Anholt, with his former wife, teacher Sheila Willet.

Tony’s paternal grandfather was Maurice Mozes Anholt (the son of Hartog Benjamin Anholt and Vrouwtje Lammert de Wilde). Maurice was born in Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands, to a Jewish family. Hartog was born in Zwolle, Overijssel, the son of Benjamin Israel Anholt, whose mother was from Hesse, Germany; and of Esther Manuel de Winter, who was from Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Tony’s great-grandmother Vrouwtje was born in Amsterdam, the daughter of Lammert Levie de Wilde and Esther Andries Kaas.

Tony’s paternal grandmother was Anna/Anne Mozes de Groot (the daughter of Mozes Abraham de Groot and Saartje Abraham Hemelrijk). Anna was born in Leeuwarden, Friesland, Netherlands, to a Jewish family. Mozes was born in Leeuwarden, the son of Abraham Nochem de Groot and Hester Hartog de Vries. Tony’s great-grandmother Saartje was born in Winterswijk, Gelderland, the daughter of Jacob Barend Himelreich/Hemelrijk, whose father was from Borchhold/Bocholt, Germany; and of Mala/Amalia Sardiner, who was from Kalisch, Poland.

Tony’s maternal grandfather was Carl/Karl Algott/Algot Ragnar Lysell (the son of August Efraim Lysell and Clara Engela Maria Nordvall). Carl was born in Lysekil, Västra Götaland. August was born in Lyse, Göteborg och Bohus, the son of Olof Wilhelm Larsson Lysell and Maria Olsdotter. Tony’s great-grandmother Clara was born in Uddevalla stad, Göteborg och Bohus, the son of Carl Anton Nordvall and Clara Alexia Theodora Lindberg.

Tony’s maternal grandmother was Caroline/Carolina Mary Alice Arbuthnot (the daughter of Charles Ernest Arbuthnot and Mary Louisa Rice). Caroline was born in Shoeburyness, Essex. Charles was born in Alverstoke, Hampshire, the son of Alexander Arbuthnot, who was from Edenordinary, Down, Ireland; and of Caroline Vance, who was from the East Indies. Tony’s great-grandmother Mary Louisa was born in Devonport, Devon, the daughter of Charles Rice.
