Tony’s paternal grandfather was Sylvester Joseph Borowiak (the son of Anton Walter Borowiak and Hedwig C. Pytleski). Sylvester was born in Minnesota. Anton was born in Lamont, Illinois, to Polish parents, Frank Borowiak and Anna Lijewska. Hedwig was born in Minnesota, also to Polish parents.
Tony’s paternal grandmother was Pearl Frances Wegner (the daughter of Frank Fredrick William Wegner and Emma Sophie Werling). Pearl was born in Iowa. Frank was born in Cylinder, Iowa, to German parents, Albert Ferdinand Wegner and Friederieke Ernestine Wilhelmine “Rika” Maron. Emma was born in LuVerne, Iowa, to George Werling and Emma Hinz, and all of her grandparents were German.
