Troy Polamalu is an American professional football player. A safety, he played for USC in college, and spent his entire twelve-year professional career with the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League (NFL). He was also head of player relations for the Alliance of American Football. He is an eight-time Pro Bowl and six-time All-Pro selection, and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2020.
Troy is the son of Suila (Polamalu). He was mostly raised, by his single mother, in Santa Ana, California. At his request, he went to live in Tenmile, Oregon, when he was young, living with relatives. His uncle is professional football coach and player Kennedy Polamalu, and another uncle, Aoatoa Polamalu, played college football. In 2007, he legally changed his name to his mother’s maiden name, and converted to Orthodox Christianity. He is a devout Christian.
Troy is married to Theodora Holmes, with whom he has two children. Theodora is the sister of professional football player Alex Holmes.
