V. C. Andrews was an American author. She wrote in the gothic horror/family saga genre. Her novels, as written during her lifetime, were Gods of Green Mountain , Flowers in the Attic , Petals on the Wind , If There Be Thorns , My Sweet Audrina , Seeds of Yesterday , Heaven , and Dark Angel ; and the outlines/story fragments for Garden of Shadows and Fallen Hearts . V. C. Andrews books written after her death were completed by Andrew Neiderman; V. C. Andrews has thus been the credited writer for dozens of books published in the years since 1986, and as recently as 2024. Flowers in the Attic was adapted into a 1987 feature film. Lifetime has produced four series of V. C. Andrews films, Flowers in the Attic , Heaven , Ruby , and Dawn .
V. C. was the daughter of Lillian Lilnora (Parker), a telephone operator, and William Henry Andrews, a tool-and-die maker, and shipyard worker. Her father was born in Rochester Junction, Monroe County, New York. Her mother was born in Portsmouth, Virginia.
V. C.’s paternal grandfather was named William Henry Andrews (the son of Ammi Andrews). William was born in Wisconsin. Ammi was born in New York, the son of Asahel Andrews.
V. C.’s paternal grandmother was Anna F. Issler/Esler (the daughter of Gottlieb Friedrich Issler/Isler and Regina Barbara Sauter). Anna was German. Gottlieb was born in Hassbach, Württemberg.
