Valentina is the daughter of producer Marina Gefter and director, screenwriter, and producer Tonino Cervi. Her father is Italian. Her mother has been described as being of Austro-Hungarian origin. Valentina is married to film director and screenwriter Stefano Mordini, with whom she has two children.
Valentina’s paternal grandfather was actor Gino Cervi (born Luigi Cervi, the son of Antonio Cervi). Gino was born in Bologna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy.
Valentina’s paternal grandmother was actress Niní Gordini Cervi (born Angela Rosa Gordini). Ninì was born in Lugo, Province of Ravenna, Emilia-Romagna.
